I'm sure you will agree that resumes are not the most exciting documents in the world.
However, they are a necessary evil at this point in time, as 99% of the time you need to submit one to apply for a job.
So, what are some tips to liven up your resume and add personality so that it doesn't send the reader to sleep!?
The answer? Adjectives!
But not boring adjectives like experienced and hard working.
You need to do some brainstorming and come up with some more interesting ones that describe your personality.
The best way to do this is to ask a partner, family member or colleague. Ask them how they would describe you in 3 words.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Empathetic, engaging, creative, strategic, innovative, results-driven, approachable, inclusive, supportive, values-driven, collaborative, consultative, highly organised, methodical, dynamic, adaptable, solutions-focused.
Select 2-3 adjectives that describe you well, and incorporate them into your resume's professional profile. You can also include some in the key skills section of your resume.
Examples:
A strategic, results-driven senior leader who...
An approachable, innovative and values-driven X Manager who...
A highly organised, customer-service focused administration professional who...
So add in some adjectives, and voila, you will have a resume that shows your personality.
